Bakuriani area – Georgia’s tourist attraction and one of the most famous ski and balneotherapeutic resorts in the country. Its location at the intersection of geographical areas, diverse flora, fauna and topography makes Bakuriani attractive place for active recreation and nature tourism. Amazing beauty and wonderful climate, crystal-clear air, the tops of the mountains with grandiose endless pine forests make the holiday unforgettable for tourists. There are curative mineral springs and the Botanical Garden of the Georgian Academy of Sciences.
Today Bakuriani – is a cozy alpine resort with a developed tourist infrastructure, which in the period from November to March, attracts lovers of skiing and snowboarding.
Currently, there are several routes for both type of skiers, as for experienced so also for beginners. It offers two-stage ski slopes, “Kokhta -1” (chair lift), total length of 1500 meters and “Kokhta -2” (Tatrapoma, lift), where steep slopes alternating with gentle as well as the track “plateau” – for beginners with rope tows. The recently opened modern highway called Didveli complex has a gandolnogo-lift type, there goes construction and equipping of additional routes. Among the cross-country skiing fans is very popular the ski climbing to the pass Tskhratskaro (13 km from Bakuriani) to a height of 2454 m.
In the center of Bakuriani is located amusement park for children, as well as a ski slope for beginners. Here you can also rent a horse for horseback riding.
Gudauri – the best ski resort in Georgia with developed infrastructure, with the greatest difference in altitude and unlimited possibilities for freeriding.
This is one of the best places for skiing and snowboarding. Whether you are an experienced skier or a beginner, everyone in Gudauri will find for itself the right track; Tracks are limited only by the height of the mountains. The resort is one of the highest settlements on the Georgian Military Road (the old name is “Road of heavenly gorges”) – the altitude of 2000 m. From there opens a wonderful view of one of the highest peaks in Europe – Mount Kazbek (5033 m.) Besides skiing, you can go down by paraplane, in tandem; the price depending on the time of flight. You can also take a ride through the mountains on a snowmobile. If during the riding on a slope, you suddenly felt hungry, you can dine in one of the cafes, which are placed near the lifts.
